Message from the Dean of the Faculty of Education

We take our responsibility for training students to become teachers with practical leadership abilities very seriously.

From 2015 on the Faculty of Education at Kochi University will focus exclusively on the Teacher Training Division for Schools and concentrate on initial teacher education. We are dedicated to preparing future teachers who are rich in humanity and fully cultivated. They also have a sense of the responsibilities of the teaching profession and affection for children, and are able to teach subjects, address educational issues including bullying and school non-attendance, and communicate and deal with children who have developmental disabilities.

In order to meet today’s social needs, we also put a great deal of effort into producing teachers who can teach science and technology with licenses in these fields, childcare teachers with both kindergarten teaching licenses and nursery teaching certificates, primary school educators able to give lessons in English and on intercultural understanding, and tutors who can act as local leaders in music, art, or sport. We take our responsibility for training students to become teachers with practical leadership skills very seriously.

Our Master of Education program will train students in practical leadership skills. Students are expected to conduct research into various educational issues and contribute to regional development while studying and practicing education in our affiliated and partner schools. We welcome not only students who have just finished their undergraduate programs but also experienced school teachers and people with other professional experience.
